Biography
Kim Yang Yo is an artist whose work explores emotional inner landscapes and the quiet boundary between childhood and adulthood.
Her practice centers on themes such as memory, vulnerability, healing, and the unspoken emotions we carry within us.
With soft palettes and delicate characters, her imagery invites the viewer into a space where personal memories and universal experiences gently intertwine.
Recurring motifs—like teddy bears and childlike figures—serve as poetic vessels for feelings that often go unnamed.
Since beginning her professional career as an illustrator in 2011, she has contributed artwork to over 30 books, many of which have been translated and distributed globally.
From 2016 to 2023, she taught visual storytelling at Kyoto University of the Arts, exploring the power of narrative through both image and education.
In 2023, she relocated to Dubai and established a private art school for children, where her workshops focus not on technique, but on the joy of expression and the freedom to feel.
Inspired by Montessori principles, she encourages each child to explore their inner world through art.
More recently, Kim has expanded into poetic visual works and immersive exhibition formats.
She has exhibited at international art fairs such as Contemporary Venice, Rome International Art Fair, and Art Shopping Paris at the Carrousel du Louvre, gaining recognition for her emotionally resonant watercolor-based installations.
Currently, she is developing projects that connect art, education, and emotional reflection—creating spaces where both children and adults can encounter the unspoken, rediscover imagination, and gently return to themselves.
