Biography

Kim Yang Yo is a contemporary watercolor artist whose work gently illuminates the quiet emotions that live beneath the surface of our everyday lives.
Her paintings explore the fragile space between childhood and adulthood—where innocence, memory, and unspoken longing quietly coexist.

Using soft palettes, transparent layers, and silent childlike figures, she gives color to emotions that are often carried but rarely named: tenderness, loneliness, nostalgia, and the desire to be understood.
For Kim, watercolor is not merely a medium—it is a language for feelings that cannot be spoken, only felt.

Before becoming a full-time artist, Kim worked professionally as an illustrator for over 30 internationally published books.
From 2016 to 2023, she taught visual storytelling at Kyoto University of the Arts, guiding students to find their own emotional voice through art.

After relocating to Dubai in 2023, she founded a private art school for children.
Her workshops focus not on technical skill, but on emotional freedom—helping children paint without fear, and to feel safe expressing themselves.

Kim has exhibited internationally at Contemporary Venice, Rome International Art Fair, and Art Shopping Paris at the Carrousel du Louvre.
Her works have been noted for their emotional resonance and poetic sensitivity, offering viewers a quiet space of reflection.

Today, Kim continues to create works that sit gently between art, childhood memory, and emotional healing—inviting both children and adults to rediscover imagination, soften their hearts, and quietly return to themselves.
